About the Marmara Political Science Congress
Marmara University Faculty of Political Sciences is pleased to organize the first Marmara Political Science Congress, which aims to strengthen interdisciplinary dialogue by bringing together academic studies in the field of political science. The congress will be held on November 27–28, 2025, at Marmara University Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Complex.
Main Theme: Interaction, Critique and Innovation
The main theme of our congress was determined as a response to the theoretical and methodological gaps that have emerged over time between the sub-fields of political science (Political Science, Public Administration, International Relations, etc.). Within this theme:
- With INTERACTION, we aim to strengthen academic and methodological exchange by bringing together different disciplines, theories, and methodologies under one roof,
- With CRITIQUE, we aim to re-examine existing approaches, established notions, and current problems on a constructive dialogue platform,
- With INNOVATION, we aim to encourage new research areas, different perspectives, and inter-institutional academic collaborations that will emerge from this process of interaction and critique.
Keynote Speaker: Prof. Dr. Faruk Sönmezoğlu
Our congress is deeply honored to host Prof. Dr. Faruk Sönmezoğlu, the doyen of International Relations and Turkish Foreign Policy in Turkey and Professor Emeritus at Istanbul University, as our Keynote Speaker.
A Broad Academic Platform
Our call for papers, covering fundamental areas such as Political Science, Public Administration, Local Governments, and International Relations, as well as related social science disciplines, has received significant national and international interest.
The congress program is structured to include hundreds of papers from academics, young researchers, and graduate students from various universities and institutions across Turkey. The program consists of content-rich academic panels, young researcher sessions, and thematic panels that promote both theoretical and applied research.
Future Vision
We aim to increase the quality of academic production, contribute to the emergence of new collaborations between researchers from different disciplines, and deepen discussions on both local and global scales.
It is our greatest goal for the Marmara Political Science Congress, which we are excited to organize for the first time, to become a permanent and traditional academic platform in our field by being repeated at regular intervals.
